Can't get a bet on.

The betting criteria that the matched odds calculator uses is very defined; basically the non-favourite needs to be at  between 2.68 and 4.7. You then request odds above this as recommended by the software. So far today i was only able to find two games that met the criteria, but i was unable to get my bets matched before the games started.

An overnight loss on Hampton v Castano. The counter bet went unmatched. A mystery too; my bet on Bellucci v Andreev was voided by Betfair. Unfortunately Betfair does not provide an explanation when this happens.
To add to my woes I have accidentally lay instead of backed Raix v Authom. I have had to double my back bet at the same odds and hope it is matched to correct the error, or hope that Authom wins. Must pay more attention!

Update: Authom lost, which means that my error has cost the bank £7.19. A real shame, because this bet would have gone to profit if I had followed the rules correctly. I feel that I should make good the error so as to keep the experiment valid. though what would I have done if the bet had won: withdrawn the profit in order to keep within the rules of the test or used it as a windfall to bolster the bank?

The first losing bet in over a week means the bank stands at £23.68. The target for the week (which ends on Thursday, is £24.20. Meanwhile I am finding that every day life gets in the way as i am having to cancel some opening unmatched positions before the games start due to other commitments.

Odds not met

I was looking to get 4.0 on John Isner against Almagro, but the odds peaked at 3.75 before the game commenced, so no bet. My other bet today is on Haase v Wawrinka. I got on Haase at 4.7 but so far Wawrinka is dominating the game and my counter bet is way off the odds. I can't see this one turning around.

Update: I learnt a a valuable lesson here. I was following the Haase v Wawrinka match on Betfair, and as the odds on Wawrinka tumbled to 1.07 I was really tempted to salvage what I could and close my position. However I restrained that impulse and let the game play out. Haase must have upped his game as eventually my counter bet at 1.44 on Wawrinka was triggered. Green! Wawrinka went on to win the game and £1.09 was added to the bank. The moral is set and forget, and trust the system (or at least until it proves otherwise).
Ideally i need some software that can place an 'if then' bet; if the first bet is matched then place the counter bet. This must be available, I will investigate.

End of week 1

My target is 10% profit each week, so with a £20 initial bank I was looking to end the week at £22.00. The actual results were near enough at £21.97. Although most people would consider a profit of £1.97 derisory, I think that within the terms of this trial is a success. On to week 2!

Confusion

I managed to get into a right mess in the  Kania/Pekhova v Amanmuradova/Diatchenko doubles match. Somehow I pressed lay when I meant to back, which meant my bet was in deficit at the start.. Furthermore when later I went to check on my balancing bet, it had disappeared. I must have forgotten to select'keep' as the at start of play option. Luck was on my side though as the game had swung in my favour and I was able to green up for a  profit of £1.02.

There is another outstanding bet Mueller/Muhammed v Malek/Mladenovi due to be played this evening which remarkably has greened before play has even started for a profit of either £1.03 or £0.90 .

Into profit!

A late night match between Riske & Wickmayer brings another win that takes the bank to £20.57 and into the black for the first time.

There is just one game that fits the criteria this morning, de Brito v Rampre. Rampre is currently at 3.85 so I have requested odds of 4.4. The game starts at 16:00, so I will check back later to see if we are on.

16:28pm This bet has greened already so profits of 71pence if Rampre wins or 98p if de Brito wins.

17:00pm another game matches the betting criteria, Pegula v Martic. The initial bet is matched only moments before the game commences and I place the matching bet on Martic. I watch the odds on betfair as the match progresses. It looks like this bet is going straight down the Swanee, but in what I presume is the third set the odds turn in my favour. Remarkably the odds just touch the 1.64 on Martic that I need to green the bet before swinging back and the game ends with a 77pence profit.

At the end of the day the bank stands at £21.97. My target for the week is £22.00
